Description
On 19 May 2022, after two years of closure and major structural works, TECHNOTOWN, the creative science hub of Roma Capitale inside Villa Torlonia, reopens to the public.
It hosts the world's first 'podcast house' and many new activities in the fields of recycling and sustainability for girls and boys from the age of 12.
No longer a science toy library for children and young people aged 8 and up, to get closer to technology through play, but a true creative factory, a place where science, technology, ingenuity, art and mathematics are transformed into creative tools to educate people to achieve the impossible, the structure's new mission, with a special focus on women protagonists in the world of innovation and scientific research.
A new space where girls and boys, starting from adolescence, and with a special entrance fee of 1 euro, can discover and express their potential, approach the world of research and innovation, and also experience opportunities to meet, compare and cooperate.
The young users, supported by the mediation of tutors, can participate in courses, meetings, talks and scientific aperitifs, as well as creative workshops that also allow them to build by recycling and regenerating materials that are usually considered waste or no longer usable.
Another great novelty is the opening, within the structure, of the world's first Podcast House, a physical place to discover the world of digital audio content and learn how to create podcasts by telling stories, ideas and cultures.
Created in collaboration with ASSIPOD - the Italian Podcasting Association (www.assipod.org) and with the blessing of Adam Curry, the inventor of the podcast, the space offers visitors a permanent exhibition on the history of the podcast, a cycle of monthly meetings on the culture of podcasting, and, from 20 to 25 June 2022, the Settimana del Podcast (Podcast Week), an annual training event for those who want to create podcasts and an opportunity to meet the most interesting podcasting realities in Italy.
