Description
Palazzo Caffarelli has undergone many transformations over the centuries, which have altered its original conformation. Some surviving parts of the frescoed vaults are preserved in the Museum of Rome.
From the beginning of the 19th century until the end of the First World War, the building was occupied by the Prussian Embassy.
In 1918 it was recovered by the Municipality of Rome and partially demolished: a large terrace (Terrazza Caffarelli) was built in place of the upper floors of the eastern wing.
