Description
The fountain of Dea Roma (Goddess Roma) is placed just opposite the fountain of Neptune in the Eastern hemicycle of Piazza del Popolo at the foot of the Pincio Hill. Goddess Roma is represented standing on a large shell-shaped pond. On its sides are the two representations of the Tiber and the Aniene rivers with the she-wolf feeding the two twins in the centre. The group was designed by Valadier (1822-1824) and sculpted by Giovanni Ceccarini.
